Waterloo Region December Meeting: Drupal Hosting

Tonight I gave a presentation to the Waterloo Region User Group about choosing a host for a Drupal based site. We talked about the essential requirements on top of the Drupal requirements, types of hosting, and our experiences with various hosts. I think the results of the discussion can be summed up as "you get what you pay for"! I've attached the presentation slides for anyone interested.

I came across this great presentation about the evolution of the Office 2007 Ribbon. While I'm not personally much of a fan of the ribbon, the development process was really interesting to listen to. I found the story of "feature creep" up to Office 2003 to be a really good example of what to avoid in revisions of a product.

Trouble in MySQL Land

This amuses me to no end. Today, on Slashdot, Ars Technica, and other sites, there has been a story circulating about a blog post by Michael Widenius, one of the core developers of MySQL. The core of his post is that there are a series of significant bugs in the 5.1 release which should have been dealt with before declaring General Availability. My first thought was, "wait a minute, don't I have 5.1 on my mail server?":
